With etherpad.com you can write collaboratory documents. You do not need a login, just surf to etherpad.com and click on New Pad. Then a blank page appears, and you can simply start writing.
If you want to undo something you have just done, for example deleted a paragraph, just use Ctrl+Z.
On the top of the page you see "Share this URL". This you can share with your friends on chats or e-mails, which enables other people to join the document.
In order to see who is who, you may choose colours in the field on your right hand side. Click on "edit name/color" to change background colour. You find this link to your right, under the heading "Connected Users".
Formatting
One thing that is different in Etherpad compared with for example Notepad in Windows is that it is possible to underline text. It is also possible to make text italic. Easiest way to do this is through keyboard short cuts: Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I.
To save your work
Easiest way to save your text is probably to do a Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V (Copy-Paste) to where you want to save it.
There are several different export options under the heading Import/Export. You can for example save the text as Plain text or in PDF-format. M§-Word and HTML is supported.
Revisions
Under the heading Saved Revsions you'll find the option to save the ongoing editing. I's always good to get into the habit of saving your work every now and again, in case something should go horribly wrong.
